Rand Enterprises designed and constructed the Basic Training Complex II Dining Facility at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. The facility served 2,600 trainee soldiers per meal, three times a day, seven days a week, year-round, with a maximum gross area of 62,390 square feet and a seating capacity of 1,092 seats. The dining area also functioned as a gathering space for group activities. The facility included receiving, storage, preparation, serving, queuing, dining, dishwashing, and all necessary support equipment. All equipment was heavy-duty and suitable for college or university use, ensuring safety, energy efficiency, and ease of operation, sanitation, and maintenance, with particular attention to wall protection in high-traffic areas.

Necessary site improvements supported the new building facilities, ensuring the separation of patron and staff/service areas for both vehicular and pedestrian circulation. The interior design featured a comprehensive, coordinated scheme using colors, textures, and accents to create an inviting, cheerful, and relaxed atmosphere appropriate for food service and dining activities. Visual and physical separations enhanced flow and circulation.

The mechanical and electrical systems were designed to contribute to LEED Silver certification. The HVAC system included air distribution, hydronic systems, and controls. The plumbing system included all fixtures, potable cold and hot water piping, piping insulation, water heating equipment, sanitary waste and vent piping, storm water removal, and a natural gas system within five feet of the building. Sound attenuation at wall pipe penetrations was achieved using acoustical joint sealant caulking.

In summary, Rand Enterprises delivered a fully functional dining facility capable of efficiently serving 2,600 soldiers per meal in a comfortable and inviting environment while adhering to high standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
